The Sikh Association in Brunei (SAIB) was truly blessed to join the global sangat in celebrating the 550th Parkash Utsav of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Together with Sikhs and well-wishers around the world, we gathered in devotion through Paath, Kirtan, Langar, and youth performances, honouring the life and teachings of the founder of our faith.

Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s message — Kirat Karo (earn an honest living), Naam Japo (remember and meditate on God), and Vand Chhako (share with others, serve the community) — continues to guide us even today. His universal call for peace, equality, and compassion reminds us of the importance of living with humility and kindness, values that bring strength to Brunei’s diverse and harmonious society.

Celebrations Around the World

This historic milestone was marked with joy and devotion across the globe. The Government of India encouraged worldwide commemorations through cultural programmes, exhibitions, seminars, and outreach activities to share Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s timeless wisdom with people of all faiths.

Celebrations in Brunei

Here in Brunei, our celebrations were filled with love and spirit:

  • Paath and Kirtan uplifted our souls with prayer and melody.

  • Sewa and Langar brought us together to share meals in equality and humility.

  • Talks and Reflections reminded us how Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s words remain relevant in our daily lives.

  • Youth Participation filled our hearts with pride as the younger generation sang shabads and poems, carrying forward our heritage with enthusiasm.

With Gratitude

We are deeply grateful to all members, families, and volunteers whose dedication and seva made these celebrations so memorable.

A heartfelt word of thanks also goes to the High Commission of India in Brunei Darussalam for their support and encouragement, and for sharing a special message as part of India’s worldwide commemorations of this sacred occasion (see message here). Their outreach through media and social platforms helped bring Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s message to an even wider audience.

A Reflection for All

This 550th Parkash Utsav was not only a celebration, but also a moment for reflection — to renew our commitment to living with truth, humility, and selfless service.

As SAIB moves forward, we carry with us the warmth of this occasion, staying true to our mission of serving the community, preserving our heritage, and fostering harmony in Brunei.
